eLux is a Linux-based embedded operating system, specially developed for the operation of Thin Clients in server-based environments, thus taking advantage of the centralization in networks and the reduction of the total cost of ownership for which Thin Clients are known. Server-based Computing means that all applications reside on servers. eLux provides access to the Microsoft Windows Terminal Server using either RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) or the Citrix Metaframe Server with the protocol ICA (Independent Computer Architecture). Furthermore, eLux provides access to any Webserver by connecting to the Internet with the Netscape Communicator. eLux enables access to any UNIX system and thus serves as a fully functional X11 workstation. With the Terminal Emulation Suite, all mainframe systems may be used as servers. Last, but not least, connection is provided to the SAP server with the integrated "SAP GUI for the Java environment on eLux".
eLux is a complete desktop solution which offers the Thin Client user a fast, comfortable and secure access to Windows and other applications residing on servers. Neither the end-user nor the administrator needs Linux knowledge. The user interface is simple and easy to use.
