Raritan's innovative hybrid rack transfer system provides industry leading performance and maximum reliability. Traditional automatic transfer switches (ATS) suffer from longer transfer times of 8 to 16 ms, and often fail as a result of electrical arcing that welds contacts together. Static transfer switches (STS) offer very fast transfers of 4 to 6 ms, but are over five and half times more expensive than ATS, draw far more energy and produce excess heat.
Raritan's hybrid transfer switch cleverly uses both electromechanical relays and silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs) to maximize the positive and minimize the negative characteristics of each.
